Updated: Ihlenfeld ID's Shooter as Former Wheeling Police Officer
WHEELING -- A man who reportedly fired more than 20 shots into the Wheeling Federal Building has died, authorities said.
The man has not yet been identified, though U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld told WV MetroNews that the shooter was a former Wheeling police officer. A
security guard at the Federal Building also received minor injuries during the shooting rampage, U.S. Marshal Chief deputy Mike Claxton said.
The shooting occurred about 2:30 p.m. today. Police have not yet released a motive.
